President Salome Zourabichvili held a meeting with Javier Colomina, Special Representative of the NATO Secretary General for the South Caucasus and Central Asia. During the meeting, Mr. Colomina reaffirmed the Alliance’s strong support for Georgia’s territorial integrity, national sovereignty, and Euro-Atlantic integration.
The meeting highlighted the dynamic development of the relations between Georgia and NATO and Georgia’s special role in the background of the security situation in the region and on the Black Sea.
The sides also discussed the importance of institutional and democratic reforms, underlining the European Perspective of Georgia, the implementation of the 12 recommendations required by the European Union, the need for depolarization and for democratic reforms. The meeting noted that Georgia’s European integration has been backed by a majority of the country, thus requiring the ruling party and the opposition to seek depolarization and to implement institutional reforms.
