On 12 March 2017, the so-called parliamentary elections are being held in occupied Abkhazia region of Georgia. This act represents yet another attempt of legitimization of consequences of several waves of ethnic cleansing, military invasion, occupation and lasting aggression by Russia against the Georgian statehood.

NATO Secretary General made the statement supporting ongoing transformation within the Ministry of Defence at the briefing held after the NATO-Georgia Commission session. According to Jens Stoltenberg, Georgia achieved significant progress in terms of Substantial NATO-Georgia Package implementation through joint working with the NATO core team.

U.S Secretary of Defence made a supporting statement towards Georgia after the NATO-Georgia Commission Session. Minister of Defence of Georgia and the U.S. Secretary of Defence James Mattis held the first meeting just in Brussels. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg presented the leaders to each other.
